About Us

Ian began farming in 1981 and started converting to organic production in 1985. Ian is currently Chair of the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada’s Advisory Board and a member of Agriculture Canada’s Organic Value Chain Round Table. He also teaches organic courses for the Canadian Organic Growers (COG) and is often invited to speak to farmers and consumers about organic farming. He is Past President of the Saskatchewan Organic Development Council, past member of the Saskatchewan Organic Directorate Research Committee, and a past member of the Saskatchewan Agri-Food Innovation Fund Specialized Crops Committee. In the past, he wrote a monthly column called All Things Organic for the Western Producer and was an organic consultant with the Agriculture Institute of Management in Saskatchewan (AIMS). Ian has travelled extensively and participated in agricultural exchanges with New Zealand, Grenada, El Salvador and Mexico and attended organic conferences and trade shows in several countries. Ian is committed to working with farmers and consumers towards a more sustainable agriculture.

Jo-Anne joined Ian and the farm in 1999. Her background in biology (BSc. 1997) and resource management (Diploma 1990) complements the farm’s sustainable agriculture philosophy. Jo-Anne has worked extensively throughout the province of Saskatchewan in fisheries biology and in Manitoba in the area of waterfowl biology. Jo-Anne’s work involved establishing a protected areas network for the government of Saskatchewan. Jo-Anne is keenly interested in organic farming, food production, gardening and rural living.
